Veterinarian
Dr. Eileen McCarthy was born in Vero Beach, Florida, raised in Concord, New Hampshire, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2006. She has been passionate about animals, science, and medicine since childhood, leading her to pursue and graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Grand Canyon University in 2020. From there, she attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Arizona and graduated as a DVM in 2024.
During her undergraduate studies, Eileen worked at a dog training facility and as a veterinary technician and client service representative at an animal hospital in Scottsdale. She has special interests in animal behavior, dermatology, nutrition, and pathology. Eileen mainly works with dogs and cats but enjoys reptile and small mammal medicine as well. She completed multiple externships at exotic animal hospitals during her DVM training and has experience working with a wide range of species.
Outside of work, Eileen enjoys hiking with her two dogs, a Shih Tzu named Max and a Yorkshire Terrier mix named Butters. She has been playing violin since the age of 4 and has performed with the Phoenix and Denver Symphony Orchestras. Her other hobbies include pickleball, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Eileen prioritizes patient comfort and is passionate about making each veterinary visit as fear-free and positive of an experience for your pet as possible. She is excited to join the Hayden Road Animal Hospital team and is looking forward to meeting you and providing excellent care for your beloved pets.
